Director, Front Line Monitoring Job Summary: The Front Line Monitoring (FLM) team plays a vital role in overseeing controls, processes, and post-trade analysis of client transactions. The team ensures adherence to best execution obligations and fair client treatment, enabling responsible revenue generation by:
- Alerting on potential compliance risks
- Advising on best execution responsibilities
- Assisting supervisors in upholding regulatory standards
Key Responsibilities Strategy & Oversight: - Serve as a bridge between 1st and 2nd line functions to ensure best execution outcomes.
- Identify and escalate potential issues in client flow management.
- Challenge existing controls, strengthen monitoring, and highlight systemic risks.
- Continuously assess and close process gaps, prioritizing high-risk areas.
- Remain updated on internal and external regulatory requirements and principle-based guidelines.
Business & Risk Management: - Maintain awareness of prevailing market conditions and the business environment.
- Provide robust challenge to senior management when risk thresholds are exceeded.
- Oversee and initiate corrective actions for activities falling outside of risk appetite.
Monitoring & Process Enhancement: - Improve efficiency in day-to-day monitoring as scope expands.
- Leverage trading knowledge to analyze client transactions and detect non-compliant activity.
- Conduct detailed reviews of trade executions, factoring in market influences.
- Analyze large volumes of transactions using Excel and internal order management systems.
- Monitor execution quality across asset classes: FX spot, forwards, swaps, NDFs, and options.
- Retrieve and analyze market data using Bloomberg, Reuters Eikon, and internal tools.
- Generate in-depth reports including tick data, blotter histories, trader communication, and order tracking.
- Communicate findings effectively with global trading and sales teams; escalate issues when necessary.
- Collaborate with the BEAM (automated monitoring) team to optimize monitoring capabilities.
Ideal Candidate Profile: - 10+ years of experience in banking, ideally within trading, sales, or surveillance roles in the first line of defense.
- Strong understanding of markets, risk management practices, and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Sharp analytical skills with strong attention to detail and process awareness.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven experience handling regulatory matters and engaging with regulators.
- Collaborative and outcome-driven mindset.
