Job Title: Credit Product Controller

Department Overview:The Global Middle Office provides trade support and acts as a controller for the trading desk. The Credit businesses supported by the function include Primary Syndication, Flow Credit Trading, Repo Trading, and Structured Credit. GMO’s primary responsibility as a control function is to ensure the accuracy and completeness of P&L and Balance Sheet reporting. The function also provides insight to management by working closely with traders to understand their strategies and risks.
Role Description:The candidate will act as the liaison between the Trading desk and other departments, drive strategic change, identify and remediate control risks, and ensure compliance with audit and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities: - Analyze, explain, and validate P&L and Balance Sheet drivers according to positions, risk, market moves, new trades, and other influences.
- Facilitate periodic P&L and Balance Sheet commentaries for senior management and MI teams.
- Represent finance in an advisory capacity on new transactions and products, assessing them on resource and return metrics, infrastructure capabilities, and operational support.
- Collaborate with Finance functions such as Accounting Policy, Valuations, Financial and Resource Controllers, and Treasury on structured transactions, focusing on day 1 revenue recognition and accounting under USGAAP and IFRS.
- Manage onshore and offshore team relationships to optimize resource usage, workload allocation, and adherence to KPI/KRI standards.
- Continually assess the control framework to ensure adequate measures are in place to mitigate operational risks.
- Provide supervisory oversight for month-end procedures, including Balance Sheet substantiation.
- Build a strong network across multiple departments, including Trading, Risk, Technology, and Operations, to streamline front-to-back processes.
- Actively contribute to process change initiatives through collaboration with other departments.
- Drive automation and digitalization initiatives to improve productivity and enhance controls.
Skills, Experience, Qualifications, and Knowledge Required: - Undergraduate degree in Accounting. Further professional qualifications such as CFA, CPA, CIMA, or ACA are preferred.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in Product Control with strong technical knowledge of financial products and their valuations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge of VBA, Python, Power BI, and Alteryx is an advantage.
- Proven track record of addressing issues proactively and analyzing complex financial data confidently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with front office, middle office, operations, and finance colleagues.
- Proactive team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholders and display leadership qualities to achieve desired outcomes.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
