Role
The Equity Business Manager will play a crucial role in the support and development of the equity trading business across various strategies. This role will be responsible for managing operational, financial, and strategic initiatives that optimize performance and support the front office team. The successful candidate will work closely with portfolio managers, traders, operations, and senior management to ensure seamless execution and business growth.
The successful applicant should possess the following:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a business management, operations, or front-office support role within a hedge fund, asset management firm, or investment bank.
- Strong understanding of equity markets, products, and trading strategies.
- Sound analytical skills and the ability to problem solve.
- Knowledge of PMS/OMS/EMS platforms
- Familiarity with multi-strategy environments is a plus.
- Understanding of operational risk and risk mitigation
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to senior stakeholders.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Strategy
- Assist in developing and executing the strategic direction for the equity business.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers to support new strategies, products, counterparties and trading initiatives.
- Analyze and report on business performance metrics (e.g., P&L, risk metrics, costs).
- Identify potential inefficiencies and opportunities for performance improvement.
Operational Oversight
- Collaborate with operations, compliance, and risk management teams to address operational issues.
- Oversee trade execution processes, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.
Project Management
- Lead and manage cross-functional projects that improve business performance or address regulatory changes.
- Manage the implementation of technology solutions to support equity trading and reporting.
- Coordinate with IT, legal, and compliance on new system upgrades, policy changes, and regulatory frameworks.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a liaison between the front office (portfolio managers, traders) and support functions (compliance, IT, operations).
- Communicate and present business updates to senior management and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external counterparties such as brokers and service providers.
